Bill Walter

I view myself as a primary-care physician first, and a naturopath second. Some may use me as a “general practitioner,” others will work with me as a “naturopathic specialist”.

After graduation from the Naturopathic Medicine program at BastyrUniversity, I went on to complete a residency at the BastyrCenter for Natural Health. During both school and residency, several rotations in Seattle area hospitals helped expand my knowledge of conventional medicine. Prior to naturopathic school, my work as a massage therapist and bodyworker taught me the value of physical medicine as a key component in people's healing process.

In addition to ‘old-fashioned’ naturopathic primary care (with its emphasis on foundational lifestyle and nutrition) my major clinical interests are cardiovascular health (including support for blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes), chronic infectious disease (HIV and HCV), stress reduction, pain management, environmental toxicity, and digestive disorders.

Approaches that I’m likely to use are lifestyle counseling, biofeedback and stress reduction, massage and manipulation therapy, herbal medicine, supplemental nutrition, and, when appropriate, pharmaceutical drugs and IV nutrition. In cases of serious or advanced illness, I enjoy working closely with conventional specialists to provide the best possible care.
